AMCORD

The Australian Model Code for Residential Development (AMCORD), published by the Australian Government in 1995, remains a useful reference document. It was produced to assist practitioners to advance the planning, design, assessment and implementation of low-rise housing. It comprised two parts:

Since AMCORD was published most jurisdictions have reviewed and updated their planning systems to reflect current approaches and best practices. Users are advised not to rely on the information contained in AMCORD and should contact their local council or State/Territory planning authority for advice on current planning policies and regulations.

The Australian Government has produced a suite of consumer and technical guide materials and tools developed to encourage the design, construction or renovation of homes to be comfortable, healthy and more environmentally sustainable.
